WICHITA, Kan. — Melanie Owens of Garden Plain, Kansas, was recently named senior vice president of human resources for Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America Inc. (PMMA). She began her new position March 6, 2017.
Owens has more than 25 years of experience in human resources, staff training and development, community-based program management and new program development. She most recently served as chief of program services for Eckerd Kids, covering a region that included Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, North Carolina, California and Vermont.
“We are excited to have Melanie join PMMA’s leadership team,” said Bruce H. Shogren, chief executive officer and president for PMMA. “Her breadth of experience in human resources spans more than 25 years, which includes staff recruitment and retention, performance management, succession planning, designing new compensation programs, program quality improvement, board development and strategic planning.
Owens has a bachelor of arts in accounting, with a minor in computer science and sociology, from Friends University, and a master’s degree in human resource management and organizational development, from Webster University. She also holds the following credentials: Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), Professional Human Resources (PHR) and Society Human Resources Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).
Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America has 17 senior living communities in Kansas and Missouri. The not-for-profit organization is headquartered in Wichita, Kan.
