Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America announces Art is Ageless winners

Art is AgelessPresbyterian Manors of Mid-America has announced the winners of its annual, systemwide Art is Ageless® competition, which features entries by artists age 65 and older throughout Kansas and Missouri.

Art is Ageless, open exclusively to people age 65 and older, is a copyrighted program of Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America. For the competition, works must have been completed in the past five years. Artists not interested in competition were invited to enter the Art is Ageless exhibit only.

The Art is Ageless program includes art classes, musical and dramatic events, educational opportunities and current events discussions on PMMA campuses throughout the year. read more

Klassen to join corporate team at Presbyterian Manor

Sheldon Klassen

Sheldon Klassen has been named Director of Plant Operations for Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America. Klassen assumed his new position July 23.

Klassen was named executive director of Kansas City Presbyterian Manor in April 2011. He has more than 25 years of experience in management, with 20 years of experience as administrator of health care and senior living communities.

“Sheldon has been executive director at two Presbyterian Manor of Mid-America communities and brings a wealth of knowledge to this position,” said President and CEO Bruce Shogren. “As we bring environmental services under our direct supervision, Sheldon will be a tremendous asset to oversee this process.” read more

Taylor to join corporate team at Presbyterian Manor

William H. “Bill” Taylor has been named Regional Director of Operations for Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America. Taylor will assume his new position Aug. 3.

Taylor was named executive director of Salina Presbyterian Manor in October 2010. He has nearly 30 years of experience in administration and management in health care.

“Bill has been a strong executive director at Salina Presbyterian Manor, and we are excited to bring his expertise to the role of Regional Director of Operations for Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America,” said President and CEO Bruce Shogren. “Bill brings leadership experience in senior living communities in rural areas as well as mid-sized communities and larger to this position.” read more

65th Anniversary: 1970s bring continued expansion

Presbyterian Manor Celebrates 65 YearsPresbyterian Manors of Mid-America is celebrating 65 years of providing quality senior services guided by Christian values. Each month we take a look back at our history with a new story.

1970

Wichita, Kan., Presbyterian Manor opened on West 13th Street. The dedication Sept. 19, 1970, was the culmination of more than two years of planning and construction. Also that fall, the apartments in Topeka were completed.

1971

A new Presbyterian home for seniors was constructed and opened in Fulton, Mo., in 1971. read more
